PASSWORD sharing on content streaming platforms is not something new.
This allows multiple people to share the same subscription so they can stream on different devices.
Netflix said it could soon charge its subscribers extra for sharing their login details.
Apparently, it will test two new features in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru, which will change how passwords are shared between accounts.
“We’ve always made it easy for people who live together to share their account, with features like separate profiles and multiple streams in our standard and premium plans. While these have been hugely popular, they have also created some confusion about when and how Netflix can be shared. As a result, accounts are being shared between households – impacting our ability to invest in great new TV and films for our members,” it said in a statement.
It remains to be seen when these changes will hit Mzansi.
DStv users have already suffered a huge blow as on Tuesday, 22 March MultiChoice kicked off new streaming changes, where subscribers are now only able to stream live content on one device at a time.
