T HE sporty and stylish Tiguan R was launched in style, accompanied by its most-loved and much-awaited Golf R, due to launch early next year.
The Tiguan R is defined by sportiness and comfort.
It also boasts a digital cockpit with the R-logo and an integrated lap timer.
It has an R-button for direct activation of “Race” mode on its newly designed multi-functional steering wheel and premium comfort seats with integrated headrests.
Inside, highlights include the optional Harman Kardon sound system, sport steering wheel, 30-colour ambient lighting, inductive mobile charging, new touch-module air-conditioning, two illuminated USB C-type ports as well as wireless app connect.
And if you want to make this vehicle more sporty than it already is, you can add 21-inch Estoril alloy wheels, IQ light LED Matrix headlights, travel assist, park assist, adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitor with rear traffic alert.
Both the Tiguan R and Golf R are powered by a 2,0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission developing an amazing 235kW and 400Nm.This makes both cars feel as if they’re ready to take off and fly.

The Golf R will only come in deep black, lapiz blue metallic and pure white.
During the launch drive, I pleasantly realised the Tiguan R not only comes with a smoother driving experience and pedals, but also zooms out of sight is you ask it to, almost the same way the Golf R does.
Details for the Golf R, as well as pricing, will be available when it launches.
Tiguan R is priced at R999 900, sold with a three-year/120 000km warranty, five-year/100 000 easy drive maintenance plan as well as a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty.
