THE Suzuki Swift 1,2-litre GLX manual transmission might be small, but it’s quite practical.
It has been in the country for more than a decade, so it’s no stranger to the Mzansi market.
SunWheels recently took delivery of the car and loved the new design.
The design is a mix of all nice things including a bold black grille spotting a Suzuki emblem at the centre, new alloy wheels and a dual-tone colour of a black roof and pearl white lower body.
But it also comes in blue and white or red and black combinations.
The black roof does not only add to the beauty of the Swift, but it also gives it that sporty feel when you consider its hot-hatch design.
As small as it is, the Swift ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to practicality.
Jumping inside, you are greeted by a lot of space when it comes to leg and head room for both front and rear passengers.
Practicality comes in when you consider that the boot space, which is 268 litres, and can be extended to 953 litres if you fold the rear seats.
The GLX is a key-less entry with a push start button, but the key is too small and could easily get lost.
Drive wise, it is a city drive car and it gives you just about enough of what you ask for.
Driving is fun and it’s quite a reliable car, thanks to the 1,2 litre four-cylinder engine developing 61kW power and 112Nm torque paired with five-speed manual gearbox.
Changing gears and operating pedals is quite easy and smooth.
On safety features, Swift is living up to the competition with basic safety features like ABS, rear ISoFix for child seat, two airbags and ESP.
Affordability is the order of the day with the Swift averaging 5,0litres for every 100km travelled.
Pricing:
Suzuki Swift 1,2 GLX manual will cost you R218 900 and it is sold with a five-year or 200 000km warranty and two years of service plan.
