THE repo man has his eyes locked on Mike “Sporo” Mangena’s wheels.
This after the retired Kaizer Chiefs legend defaulted on the payment of his top-of-the-range Toyota Fortuner, which he bought in December 2016.
According to court papers seen by Daily Sun, notices were sent to Mangena but he did not respond.
The bank approached the courts and have served Mangena with a summons.
The court documents read: “The defendant failed to effect payment to the plaintiff on the monthly instalments due in terms of the agreement,”
In a letter dated 31 March sent to Mangena and seen by the SunTeam, he was informed that if he didn’t pay the arrears, make an arrangement with the bank or use other remedies available to him, he would lose the vehicle.
The bank said the car would be sold in order to recover the money.
When the notice was issued, Mangena’s outstanding amount owed was over R430 000.
“As a result of the defendant’s breach and plaintiff’s subsequent cancellation of the agreement, the plaintiff is entitled to claim from the defendant cost, return and possession of the goods together with all the documents in respect of the goods.”
When called for comment on the matter, Mangena said he didn’t want to talk to Daily Sun.
“I don’t have anything to say, sorry,” he said.
Mangena, who also played for Moroka Swallows, was a sports analyst at SABC after retiring from soccer.
He was part of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search, scouting players that would go head-to-head with the Nedbank Cup winners.
