Racist students must be removed from tertiary institutions.
It is worrisome that we still have students full of racism in our country.
The white student caught on camera peeing on a black student’s desk, books and laptop at the University of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape must be expelled from the institution.
The university must be deeply concerned by this type of behaviour. Parents are also to blame for such behaviour as racist students often learn from them.
Racism is still rife at tertiary institutions. Even after 28 years of democracy in South Africa, racism is still playing out in the country’s tertiary institutions.
I always get saddened and feel sorry to hear such pain and heartbreaking stories.
Legislation alone is not going to ease the edgy co-existence between different racial groups that persists in many institutions. A mind shift is needed at a national level.
