THE FACTS

GEORGE and Doris Mojaki from Kagiso told the SunDefender that in 2019, they applied to a medical aid scheme to register their daughter.

They submitted the required documents but their daughter was not registered. In 2021, they received a notice that they owed R5 500 for treatment received by their daughter, who was not registered. They went to the Government Employees Medical Scheme offices and lodged a complaint. They received an SMS saying they were suspended from the scheme because of debt. They continued paying, despite the issue not being resolved. They want the fund to explain the outcome and to be reinstated.

WHAT I DID

I contacted the medical aid scheme.

SOLUTION

Bafihlile Mokoena from the scheme confirmed they had resolved the issue and the member had been notified.
