IT’S back to square one for slain Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa’s daughter Namhla Meyiwa.
The 14-year-old has been dropped by her donor, Red Farm.
Red Farm started donating a sum of R1 500 to the late hero’s daughter in February, after reading about Namhla’s struggles in Daily Sun.
The SunTeam has also learnt the other “good Samaritans” who volunteered to help Namhla had yet to lift a finger.
Among them is former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo, who’d offered to lend a helping hand.
Said Brilliant to Daily Sun at the time: “It’d be selfish of me to sit back and do nothing while Senzo’s daughter is struggling.
“I’m not rich, but am more than willing to help.
“I’ve no reason to watch his daughter suffer. I’ll to do my part just like he did with my football career.”
Jozi organisation Red Farm also pledged to lend a helping hand for the next decade.
Red Farm spokesperson, Oupa Radebe, had at the time said “this is to ensure she doesn’t feel the absence of her father”.
But Red farm’s pledge has since been reversed.
Oupa told the People’s Paper: “Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and lockdown restrictions, we’re forced to cut costs, one of which is the cost of Namhla’s donation.
“For July, we weren’t able to donate anything to her and will no longer donate anything until we’re back on our feet.
“These are difficult times for us, we had to cut salaries and decrease production.
“We didn’t see this one coming. For that reason, we would like to apologise to Senzo’s daughter and the Meyiwa family.”
Senzo Meyiwa’s mother Ntombifuthi Meyiwa said this was a shock for her and Namhla.
Insisted Ntombifuthi: “I’m saddened by these sad news, but am also grateful that they’re honest enough.
“This means we’re back to square one.
“The reality is that I don’t know what to do because I’m not employed.”
