IT SEEMS Thamsanqa Mkhize’s vacation continues, after his agent Sizwe Ntshangase confirmed to SunSport yesterday that there were no teams looking to sign him at this stage.
Mkhize (28) left Maritzburg United at the end of last season after his contract expired and was on the verge of joining Orlando Pirates, but the move was torpedoed by the arrival of Muhsin Ertugral, who said the defender didn’t fit into his plans.
After Ertugral’s snub in July, Mkhize returned home to Durban, where he has been waiting for Ntshangase to find him a new team.
But that does not look to be happening any time soon. Ntshangase said he was still searching for his client’s next destination.
“Yes, I can confirm that Thami is home.
“At the moment I don’t have a team that I’m talking to regarding his services. We are in no rush, you know you can’t rush these things,” said the agent.
Ntshangase, who also has Bafana Bafana and Bidvest Wits defender Sifiso Hlanti as a client, added that he was somewhat concerned by the fact that Mkhize was not playing.
“Obviously I will have to work hard for the sake of the player’s future. Life must continue for him – and that will happen once I get him a team,” said Ntshangase, who added that Mkhize was a free agent.
Early in July the defender was unveiled by Pirates as their new signing, but that was before Ertugral was hired as new coach to take over from Eric Tinkler.
When the Turkish coach joined the Soweto giants one of his first actions was to cut the player loose.
