MARUMO Gallants coach Dan Malesela says they are approaching their crucial Nedbank Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday (6pm) in a relaxed mood.
Many are tipping the DStv Premiership champions to easily wrestle the title from Bahlabane Ba Ntwa, who are the Nedbank Cup defending champions.
But the former Chippa United coach, who won this trophy with TS Galaxy two seasons ago, has warned Downs to expect a tough encounter.
“It will be nice for me to win this trophy again,” Malesela said.
“But this game it’s not about me but the whole team. We’re all aiming to defend our cup. It is not going to be an easy game, not only for us, but for Sundowns too.”
“We will need to be disciplined if we’re to produce out best, and be well organised.
“I am not going to talk much about which Sundowns players need to be guarded against.
“We are going to play our game to our strength. It is true, Sundowns are the best team in the country, but we also have a quality team capable of standing against them.”
The former Downs and Orlando Pirates defender also revealed that they have received a huge boost in their defence with the return of Lebogang Mabotja.
The 30-year-old left-back missed Gallants’ final league clash against Sekhukhune United due to injury.
The reliable Mabotja was replaced by Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali, who put in an impressive performance against Arrows.
“Now we are facing a huge problem of making a decision between Mabotja and Ravhuhali,” added Malesela.
“I think one of them will cry, which is not a good thing.
“The good thing is that everyone is working hard and wants to play on Saturday.”
