ROYAL AM striker Victor Letsoalo is determined to push Mamelodi Sundowns goal poacher Peter Shalulile for the coveted Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award at the end of the DStv Premiership season.
Letsoalo said he has not lost hope of catching Shalulile for the top scorer award.
Shalulile is leading for the Golden Boot with 18 goals, while Letsoalo is second with 14 goals. Both clubs have six matches remaining.
With both teams having played 24 matches, Letsoalo feels he can still surpass the Namibian captain.
“This is motivating me because the competition is what you are looking for in the sport,” said Letsoalo.
“I still believe I can beat him for the award.”
Letsoalo, who was embroiled in a controversy over his recent speculated move to Kaizer Chiefs, said he is not sure whether he’ll be with the Kwa-Zulu Natal club next season as Chiefs are set to revisit their interest in him.
As from next January, Letsoalo will be able to sign a pre-contract with the club of his choice as he will be left with six months of his contract to run.
But when asked if he will be with the club next season, Letsoalo said he has no idea as he is focused on helping Royal AM finish second in the Premiership this season. AM are currently in second place 11 points behind leaders Sundowns. “Right now I’m focused on Royal AM and scoring goals for the club,” added Letsoalo.
