STELLENBOSCH FC coach Steve Barker says taking care of Peter Shalulile will allay their problems when they face Mamelodi Sundowns in a DStv Premiership clash at Tuks Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).
The Namibian talisman is on the verge of breaking Collins Mbesuma's 17-year goal-scoring record. Shalulile has been on red hot form this season as he currently needs just three more goals to equal the long-standing PSL record, having brought his tally to 22 goals for the season.
Barker, who is hoping to consolidate their place in the top eight with two matches remaining this season, admitted that Downs are not a man team, but Shalulile is the one giving them sleepless nights.
"They have other match winning players in the team, (Aubrey) Modiba has scored in their last three matches, Themba Zwane is capable, but negating a player like Shalulile does take away a lot of the threat," Barker said on Thursday.
"Defiantly we will have to take care of him and take care of other players as well."
Sundowns have already won the league title for the fifth time in a row this season. However, they seem to have not removed their foot from the pedal.
Barker said they were aware of their danger despite having already finished the job.
He stated: "They are a club that have build up a DNA that every match is important to them, they have set their targets and want to keep the momentum they have big Nedbank Cup final coming ahead of them."
"They will be a formidable opponents that even if they rest some players those that would be coming in will do the job. We are not going to have it easy there."
"We beat Cape Town City earlier in the season, we look forward to the end of the season we have given Sundowns tough times in some matches so I am confident of getting something from this match."
Stellies are going to the penultimate match sitting in position six on the log with 41 points from 28 games.
