THE Zulu nation has been left horrified by the murder of another confidant of King Misuzulu.

Induna Cuphisa Ntuli was shot dead with three other people on Saturday, 22 October.

The 63-year-old, an induna in Osuthu in Nongoma, was close to the late King Zwelithini and the current king.

Ntuli and three others were gunned down by unknown hitmen while they were erecting a tent at a community hall in Nongoma, northern KZN.

Ward committee member Mcebiseni Ntuli, who was also close to the king, Sgonyoza Ngema and Yazi Zulu were the three other victims of the shooting.

In September, Osuthu Traditional Council chairman Dr Dumisani Khumalo, also close to the king, was killed in a shooting after attending the Reed Dance Festival.

King Misuzulu’s spokesman Prince Thulani Zulu confirmed Ntuli’s murder.

“We don’t know why but it is painful that this is happening and we are shocked,” he said.

“At the moment, we will not say much. We will allow the police to do their work, hoping that justice will take its course.”

KZN police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala told Daily Sun murder charges were being investigated by the Nongoma police.

“It is alleged that the victims were erecting a tent at the community hall when they were attacked by unknown suspects, who fired multiple shots at them,” she said.

“The circumstances surrounding their deaths are still being investigated. The victims were aged between 25 and 63.”

Amabutho are preparing for the official coronation of King Misuzulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 29 October.

It is not clear whether this shooting was linked to the dispute over the throne.

In September, the king and rival Prince Simakade fought over the use of Enyokeni royal palace for the Reed Dance but Simakade left and the king used the palace.
