ZULU King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has urged people to unite in the fight against crime.

Speaking at the Royal Heritage Day celebration held at Huntersfield Stadium at Katlehong in Ekurhuleni on Saturday, 30 September,  Misuzulu said that crime is rife in Gauteng.

“Crime is trying to divide people and is causing havoc in the province.

“We are more than the criminals but the way things are happening, it seems we are losing the battle to fight crime," said the King.

He said they are going to meet the Gauteng officials to discuss how they can join forces to fight crime.

Misuzulu reminded amabutho that King Shaka and others left nation united.

“We need to go back to our roots and follow the kings and chiefs who fought hard to promote the spirit of togetherness and to be like the children of one mother,” said Misuzulu.

He urged people not to turn a blind eye when they see someone commit crime.

“When people see crime happening on their sight, they run away instead of helping the victims," said the King.

He said gender-based violence against women and children needs to be addressed by everyone, including chiefs and

Department of Cooperative Governance and the Department of Traditional Affairs.

“We need to find ways of how amabutho from Gauteng can be included in the programmes where they work hand in hand with cops to fight crime,” said Misuzulu.

He said he was grateful to Gauteng people and Ekurhuleni Municipality for gracing this event.

“I’ve always wanted to come to Gauteng to see chiefs, izinduna and the community at large since I was coronated as the King last year.

Gauteng Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC Morakane Mosupyoe said Heritage Day celebration holds special significance as it emphasises the custodianship of traditions and the preservation of our cultural.

"We are honoured to host, His Majesty, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini. Isilo embodies the essence of our heritage, a beacon of tradition and unity for the Zulu nation and the broader South African society. His dedication to upholding our cultural values and fostering harmony resonates deeply with the spirit of Heritage Month,” said the MEC.

King Misuzulu was presented with three cows by Gauteng provincial government.
