RESIDENTS from Crossroads in Cape Town are shocked after a body of a woman was found in a wheelie bin in a yard on Monday morning, 1 August.
A resident who spoke to Daily Sun said a child from the house where the incident occurred saw a man pushing a wheelie bin into their yard early in the morning. They child then woke the elders, who asked what the man was doing. Instead of answering the questions, the man ran away from the scene leaving the bin behind.
“When the family checked what was in the bin, they received the shock of their life. They saw a body of a woman which seemed to be in the decomposing state. The woman who owns the house was terrified and is in shock,” said the Daily Sun source.
Residents who spoke to Daily Sun said the man who dumped the bin is from Zwelitsha, in Nyanga.
Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed the incident.
“This morning (Monday, 2022-08-01), the body of an unidentified woman was found in a dirt bin at a premises in Sagwiti Street in Old Crossroads. According to reports, the people occupying the house heard a dirt bin being pushed onto their premises. They looked outside and saw a man pushing the bin. When they asked him what he is doing on their premises, he left the dirt bin and ran off. When the dirt bin was opened the body was found. A murder case was opened for investigation. No arrests have been made,” Van Wyk said.
Bandile Mhlola, a neighbourhood watch executive member in the area, said they were shocked about the incident.
“We have the information that this person was transported in our area and was killed in Zwelitsha in Nyanga. The man who was pushing the wheelie bin is allegedly from Zwelitsha. We are shocked by the incident, we just hope that the woman is identified and his family found so that she can at least have a descent burial.”
