COPS in Khayelitsha are investigating the rape of a pregnant woman by two men.
The 23-year-old was raped in Ethembeni squatter camp in Makhaza on Wednesday, 9 November.
She told Daily Sun that the men kicked the door of the shack she was sleeping in, and the one who raped her first did so while a gun was on her neck.
“I could feel the cold gun on my neck as he was raping me,” said the woman, adding that before raping her, the men first robbed her of her phone and R50.
“I was sleeping when I heard someone kicking the door around 2am. The shack belongs to someone else as I’m still waiting to complete my own. They kicked twice and the door opened,” she said.
The woman said the man holding the gun ordered her to take off her night dress and turn around. Then he raped her.
“He warned me it would be the end of me if I dare shout, so I had to submit until he was done. He was holding a gun while raping me. When he was done, the other man, who is my cousin, also raped me. They then disappeared.”
After the men left, she waited for a few minutes before knocking on a neighbour’s shack. She told him what happened and he woke up residents who called the cops.
The woman said someone saw the rapists before they raped her. There were three of them, and two are her cousins. The third man is unknown.
“I didn’t know that my other cousin was outside while I was being raped.
“He is the one who was arrested and confessed that he was outside the shack when the incident happened. Those who raped me are still at large,” she said.
Community leader Vuyani Madikane (50) said residents were angry.
“We are looking for these boys. They are known. We hope cops find them before us.”
Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident, stating that Harare police attended a scene in Makhaza.
He said two men allegedly forced entry into the victim’s house, where one raped her at gunpoint and the other one followed.
They left the house with two cellphones and cash, and no arrests had been made.
He said that cops registered a case of house robbery and rape.
