BELINDA Williams has accused Vukile Bhuqa (55) of beating up her mother.
On 14 November, Daily Sun published a story about a man who slept on top of a grave in Gugulethu, Western Cape.
But Belinda, who knows the madala, said she was called home from work by a neighbour who told her that her mum was bleeding after being moered by him.
“I hunted for him and moered him in return. I moered him with a bottle for beating up my mother. That is why he has a problem with his leg.”
However, she was not aware that he was staying at the graveyard.
“When I last spoke to him, he was living in a shack in Barcelona squatter camp. I was also shocked to hear that he now lives at the graveyard,” she said.
She said that madala always visited their home and she gave him food, but her mother would never allow him to stay because of what he did to her.
However, Vukile told Daily Sun that he did not remember beating up Belinda’s mother.
“I don’t want to go back there. I will stay where I am or go to Ngqamakwe. I’ve had enough.”
Belinda said she was talking to other family members about Vukile’s situation.
“We are a big family. I’m talking to others so we can find ways to help him, especially with going to Ngqamakwe. But it is not the first time they gave him money to go home. So I hope this time he will go,” she said.

Belinda’s mother, Betty, said she did not want anything to do with him.
Vukile said he wanted to fix his ID and go to the rural area.
“I’ll build my own house and stay there without fighting with anyone,” he said.
