A WEDDING bus crashed into a temporary barrier on the N2 near Tinley Manor leaving 75 guest injured.
It is alleged the bus was transporting wedding guests from Umzimkhulu KZN south coast to Nongoma, northern KZN, when it hit a temporary barrier and overturned at about 3am on Monday, 2 May.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue spokesman Dylan Meyrick, the bus was travelling from Umzimkhhulu to Nongoma carrying 78 people, when it collided with a concrete barrier used to divert traffic around the damaged Umhlali River bridge and overturned.
“Only nine were taken to hospital as the remaining passengers arranged alternative transport. Seven of these were critical and two had serious injuries. One of the injured was rescued using the jaws of life. The patient was trapped under the bus,” said Meyrick.
