A FAMILY of 10 members affected by the deadly floods said their wish was to bury all of them together.
Four members are yet to be found, and on Saturday, 30 April only six were laid to rest.
Slindile Mdlalose (43), Uyanda Mdlalose (10), Asanele Mdlalose (79), Snothando Mdlalose (5), Lulama Mdlalose (3) and Lubanzi Mdlalose (2) all died during the floods as heir home in Mzinyathi north of Durban collapsed.
With the help of neighbours, four of them were found the same day while the other two were found days later. Four are still missing.
It was a sad occasion at the funeral service held at Sweetwater's in Pietermaritzburg.
Family spokesman Linda Gcabashe said: "We lost 10 family members at one time. Four are still missing while we bury the six today. We are under a lot of pain.
"We are in so much pain. But we've accepted the situation. We never thought something like this would happen in our family. Now that it has happened we are hoping to find all of them and bury them together, but couldn't."
Chief Financial Officer at National Lottery Commission, Philemon Letwaba, said: "We've been working with all the structures of this province. Our role is to work with communities. We share the family's pain. I've been sent by the Lottery board to deliver a message of support to the families.
KZN premier, Sihle Zikalala, who also attended the funeral, said: "It's time people start building houses in good areas that are safe to live in."
He said losing one family member is hard, losing 10 at once is even harder.
"Four other family members are still missing. This is extremely painful and hard to accept."
Meanwhile, over 400 people lost their lives during the deadly floods that hit KZN three weeks ago and over 50 are still missing.
