THE EFF student command wants better care and facilities in higher institutions.

Mongezi Dlamini, the branch chairman of the EFF student command at TUT's Ga-Rankuwa campus in Tshwane, said they were calling on students to vote for the EFF during the SRC elections from 4 to 6 September.

"We acknowledge that this is a very sensitive timeline in the country, where the government cannot substantiate that we will be employed after graduating," he said.

He said they wanted to bring massive change on campus.

"EFF student command is a radical organisation that fights against any dictatorship that happens between lower and upper structures. In this instance it's the management of the institution and students," he said.

Dlamini said as a student command, they stood against oppression.

"It will never be that Nsfas and eZaga (a direct payment solution that Nsfas use to pay student allowances) can come and implement something that will not benefit students," he said, adding that students had to have a say in things that affect them.

"The amount we pay to live in these university residences are abnormal. We are still subjected to living without generators while knowing there is load shedding," he said.

Dlamini said students must register to vote in 2024, so they deliver a socialist government into power, and elevate their commander-in-chief Julius Malema to the presidency.

The party's SRC secretary, Mzwakhe Sithole said: "When we get into power we will fight for infrastructure. We don't want middlemen, Nsfas must pay directly to students."

Branch secretary Siwanikiwe Nyamazana said: "What I want to see at TUT in January is that students must register for free. We need beautiful infrastructure on our campus."
