FOR many years, she was dreaming of having a toilet in her house.
And now that she has grown older and walking long distances is a problem, gogo Margarete Pretty Sethole needs a bathroom in her house.
The gogo from Mabopane block A, Tshwane, will be turning 101 on Saturday, 15, and her birthday wish is to have an en-suite bathroom.
Gogo Margarete, who can still talk, walk, and even sing, shared with Daily Sun the tricks and tips for a long life.
“If you want to live a long life, you must respect your elders,” she said.
She said that she grew up respecting her parents as well as her elders.
“I used to respect my mum. I would even take care of her while she was sick. I gave her respect until she passed away and just for that, I believe I am still alive,” she said.
She said that praying and honouring God also helps. “The youth must go to church and believe in God,” she said.
Gogo said that she would like to be gifted with a bathroom.

“I’m old now and it's hard for me to walk to the toilet, which is outside. If someone out there can help me by building me a toilet, I will be happy,” she said.
Her daughter, Rebecca Meisie (73), said they are blessed to still have gogo in their lives.
“Since growing up, I’ve never seen anyone this old and it shocks me every day. But I thank God for keeping her until this age,” she said.
Rebecca said she also wishes to reach her mum's age.
“I thank my mother for taking care of us all these years. She has been my best friend because I don’t have any friends,” she said.
Rebecca said that gogo has five children, 22 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
