WHAT people have been begging for from mother nature has turned into a nightmare for others.
Heavy rain has not only filled dams, but also homes, schools and cars in some parts of North West and Tshwane since Monday, 7 November.
Samuel Nkhaki (36) from Bosplaas West, North West, was affected by the floods as his mud house collapsed.
He told Daily Sun that on Tuesday morning, his house collapsed while he was in the bedroom with his son.
“We rushed outside and watched it collapse. We are now homeless. I’m now looking for zinc sheets so I can have shelter in the meantime,” he said, adding that he was shattered.
“I would really appreciate it if people could help us build a shelter. I have little furniture with me, but I don’t have a place to put what I managed to save.”
Mavis Mabunda (18) from Moretele said they had been living in a flooded house for three days.
Moretele Mayor George Manyike has tasked an internal team to assess the affected areas such as Mmotla, Kromkuil, Makapanstad, Potoane and Carousel View.
Meanwhile in Tshwane, emergency services spokesman Charles Mabaso said a white Nissan Almera lost control on the R80 and plunged into a nearby stream on Tuesday.
