Explosion leaves ten dead and scores injured!

A fuel tanker got stuck under a bridge and caught fire after the driver allegedly tried to drive through a very tight bridge on Railway Street in the Boksburg Area on Saturday morning, 24 December.   

Curious residents from the nearby houses including children went to investigate.   

And there was big a boom.

It is believed that the tanker exploded while firefighters were busy extinguishing the fire.   

The explosion was so massive that it uprooted the railway line.

A massive gas explosion which occurred Boksburg on Saturday has left many people injured. 

Reports indicate that the explosion happened on the Hospital Road, a stone away from the OR Tambo Hospital. 

Emer-G-Med spokesman Kyle van Reenen said their paramedics together with multiple emergency service agencies were at the scene. “A fuel tanker has exploded. “At this stage, we can confirm there have been multiple people left with critical injuries and several fatalities,” Reenen said.
