A faction in the Congress of the People (COPE) has been pushing for the axing of party leader Mosiuoa Lekota.
On Monday, it was announced that the leader was suspended but Lekota rubbished his suspension, while, Cope's national chairperson Teboho Loate said Lekota had the confidence and full support of the CNC.
At a conference that was supposed to be addressed by Lekota on Wednesday, things got out of hand and fists flew and blows were exchanged.
The chaos happened after people claiming to be members of COPE interrupted the briefing saying Lekota has no right to address them.
