Residents woke up in shock after seeing flames on the famous pub.
Even though it's not yet clear what might have caused the fire but owner of Disoufeng Pub, Tebogo Phiri confirmed that all those videos making rounds on social are, indeed videos of Disoufeng.
He said only a portion of the pub was burnt and fortunately, no injuries were reported.
He further gave thanks to all those who've been calling and sending him messages but has asked for time and space to deal with the matter.
A neighbour who asked not to be named told Daily Sun that he heard people screaming at around 4 am and when he went outside, he saw the fire and was one of the people who tried to stop the fire from spreading.
"Luckily, only a certain portion was burnt," he said.
Videos have been making the rounds on social media and residents are sad, sending love and prayers to the owner and staff members of Disoufeng Pub.
Minky Mahlangu said this is one of her favourite spots in Soweto and said the owner mustn't be discouraged, things will be okay.
"If it was according to me, I'd ask Soweto residents to help on rebuilding the place. We love it so much and it has become a home to a lot of people. It's really sad to see this happening, but we have hope that everything will be okay, we're praying for you," said Minky.
Koketso Mohlala said this is his favourite pub in the whole of Soweto and he's sad to see it in flames.
"I'm glad that no one is hurt and pray that God gives the owner the strength to deal with the matter. This too shall pass," said Koketso.
Fakazi Ndlovu is also sending love and light message to the owner and staff members of Disoufeng.
He emphasised that the most important thing is that no one was injured.
He reminded the owner that the pub is Soweto's loved spot and should he need anything, he should just shout.
