A WOMAN, who chopped her partner and stuffed his body parts in a bag, will appear in court today, Friday, 1 March 2024.

Tatenda Mhlanga (33) from Zimbabwe and her co-accused Johannes Lebese (53), from Wattville, in Ekurhuleni are appearing in the Benoni Magistrates Court. They are facing charges of murder and violating a corpse.

On 11 November 2023, the two were stopped by the crime prevention wardens carrying a suitcase.

Amapanyapanya asked the partners to open the suitcase and found a human head and the upper body of Mhlanga's partner, Obert Mazadza (42), who is also a Zimbabwean national.

Johannes was arrested on the scene and Tatenda fled as the wardens tried to arrest her. She handed herself to the police the following day, on 12 November 2023.

NPA's spokeswoman, Lumka Mahanjana said after discovering the body parts, the wardens called the police.

"The police arrived and were still busy on the scene when Community Policing Forum members came and reported that they have found other body parts at a nearby dumping site."

Last year, Tatenda abandoned her bail application, and Lebese is currently out on bail.
