UMKHONTO Wesizwe (MK) North West coordinator Napoleon Webster is fighting for his life in hospital after he was run over by a truck.
The accident happened on Sunday, 21 January, while he was on his way to a meeting.
The truck driver fled the scene, and suspicions of political motives surround the incident.
MK provincial spokeswoman Boipelo Mogase said the party believes the incident is due to an internal squabble within the party.
“There's a faction that refuses to accept him as our coordinator. We believe they may be involved in this whole thing,” she said.

She said she didn't understand why there were problems with Napoleon being the leader because the list of leaders was issued by the national leadership of the party.
“This group is causing a lot of problems in the party. We wish our comrade a speedy recovery and we will not be deterred from doing our work to serve our people,” said Mogase.
Webster is a former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) member and is known for his activism in Marikana fighting for housing.
He once led an illegal occupation of government-built houses in Marikana extension 2.
The occupiers renamed the area Mambush 34 after slain Marikana miner Mgcineni Mambush Noki, who was shot dead by police during the Marikana massacre.
Webster had also faced charges of killing an ANC councillor but was acquitted in 2018 when prosecutors accepted that he didn't have a case.
This is a developing story.
