Two women are in hot water after being caught making Springbok jerseys in the Brackenfell area on Thursday, 14 September 2023. 

Police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said they seized several materials containing fake Springbok jerseys. He said police had received a tip- off about illegal activities at a business premises in Fourie Street.

"The members prepared an application for a search warrant which was submitted to the Senior Public Prosecutor and eventually approved for execution by the Magistrate," he said.

 On Thursday, 14 September, police officers executed the search warrant when they entered a business premises on Fourie Street, Brackenfell.

"They seized 67 branded and 50 unbranded Springbok jerseys, 513 cuffs and collars and 7 workstations. They arrested two women aged 25 and 47 for possession of counterfeit goods,” Van Wyk said.

In July, police seized several truckloads of counterfeit goods worth more than 100 million at a mall in Bellville. 

Among the seized goods were several famous brands. During the same operation, the police officers also found illegal tobacco products. The arrest was made after multi-disciplinary policemen executed a search warrant and searched the place.
