TWO men aged 19 and 58 lost their lives on Wednesday, 6 December.
This was after they were buried in the soil after a hill collapsed.
The incident happened when a group of five people were loading sand into a tipper truck in the village of Ga-Sekgopo, Modjadjiskloof, at the Morakoni section, next to a local river.
Tragedy struck when a massive wall dug over their heads collapsed, burying Thapelo Sebopetsa (19) and Nyedi France Machete (58) alive.
While three of them escaped unharmed, the other two were trapped under the heavy soil, just metres away from each other.
A witness told Daily Sun that he was in disbelief.
Rescue workers worked tirelessly to free the trapped men and were assisted by a TLB machine provided by the owner of the tipper truck.
Limpopo police spokesman Hlulani Mashaba confirmed the incident.
"After a tireless rescue operation that was completed at around 16:30 hours, the lifeless bodies of the two men were found after being covered by soil for a long time in the afternoon. The deceased were identified at the scene by relatives as Thapelo Sebopetsa (19) and Nyedi France Machete (58)," said Mashaba.
Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
