Tsotsis shot, killed in foiled robbery!

THREE armed suspects were killed in a foiled robbery during a shoot-out with cops in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, on Wednesday, 21 September.

Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said cops received a report of a business robbery at Pietermaritz Street at about 12.45pm and responded. They spotted the suspects’ vehicle and a chase ensued.

“Suspects opened fire at police and during the shoot-out, three men were fatally wounded. Then two alighted from the vehicle and fled on foot. The vehicle was searched and all items stolen during the robbery were recovered,” Ngcobo said in a statement.

She added that according to the owner of the shop, the suspects entered and robbed him at gunpoint.

“An undisclosed amount of cash, cigarettes, airtime vouchers and cellphones were stolen.”

Ngcobo said police were investigating cases of attempted murder, business robbery, possession of stolen property as well as unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. A manhunt has been launched for the two suspects at large.
