NKEDI Malala has been living in the dark for almost 10 years.
She said she tried all avenues to switch her lights back on, but nothing seems to be working.
The 32-year-old from Moretele View in Mamelodi, Tshwane told Daily Sun her family left her in the house to take care of it, but strange things are happening.
She said the family's beautiful house has been without electricity since 2015. She said the City of Tshwane told her she owed almost R400 000. But Nkedi said she is not working and will not afford to the money.
According to Nkedi, in 2015 the house owed R17 341,19, but her last municipality slip showed that the house owed R359 731.
"We're having a big problem in my parent's house. We're tired of living in the dark for many years," she said.
She said she doesn't know how they owe so much money. "I really need the municipality to explain to me why they're torturing me," she said.

Nkedi said the municipality must investigate the matter because she doesn't believe the high bill.
"I'm affected. I can't have a proper budget, I can't use electrical appliances in my home because there's no electricity," she said.
She said she's the only one living in darkness in the area.
A 39-year-old neighbour said: "It's painful to see her living in the dark for such a long time."
City of Tshwane spokesman Lindela Mashigo said the account in question owes and is sitting with a total outstanding amount of R473 779,37.
"The last payment made was on 26 August 2020. The customer made a total of nine payments amounting to R31 769,59," he said.
"Electricity service is disconnected because of the arrears owed and can only be restored upon receiving payment or make payment arrangement. The client must visit our credit control office so that she can be assisted," said Mashigo.
