RESIDENTS are shocked after they found dumped dead babies in their kasi.
The shocking discoveries were made at Block P in Soshanguve on 15 August and the other at Block HH in Soshanguve on 16 August.
According to a resident who saw the dumped baby at Block P, Nyana Nakana (51), the baby was dumped on top of a pile of rubbish in the area.
"We plead that this place be developed into a shelter so that parents who don't want children drop them here," she said.
Nyana said not over a year ago, a child was dumped in the area.
She said it’s not right to find dead babies in their area.
Another resident, Sarah Chabalala (51), said: "We want this place to be developed into a productive area. Sometimes people are robbed by thugs who hide from the same bushes."
Lula Baleni (39) from Block HH said the gruesome discoveries were heartbreaking.
He appealed to parents to use centre care and orphanage areas to drop their children.
Tshwane MMC for Environment and Agriculture Management, Ziyanda Zwane, said the city regrets and condemns the illegal dumping that is taking place during this unlawful municipal workers' strike.
He said daily operations had been affected since 27 July due to intimidation of employees, which affects the refuse collection schedule.
"The City is trying hard to collect refuse, but the service keeps getting disrupted by some criminal elements coupled with the strike where there is also damage to property," he said.
Zwane said operations are affected at disposal facilities which hinder the disposal of collected rubbish by refuse trucks.

"Residents are urged not to dump refuse illegally during this illegal strike period as this has a negative impact on the environment and the wellbeing of residents," said Zwane.
The municipal workers have been on strike for almost three weeks.
The Transformation Alliance Tshwane (TTA) regional chairman, Mpho Baloyi, said they are concerned by the state of Soshanguve, which continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate following the discovery of the bodies.
Baloyi said TTA has a help desk headed by a social worker, adding that it can be reached through their media liaison, Tsakani Manganyi.
"We plead with parents to reach out for help," he said.
The police said an inquest docket has been opened after two dead babies were found.
