Truck driver gunned down!

MPUMALANGA police have launched a manhunt after a truck driver was gunned down at a mini garage in Shabalala Trust outside Hazyview on Saturday, 13 August at about 7am.

This after two men, one armed with a gun, emerged on foot and ordered the man to get into a black VW Polo.

Realising that he’s refusing, the other man shot him killing him on the spot. The pair fled in a Toyota bakkie belonging to the deceased.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed that the police in Hazyview are urgently seeking the community’s assistance in tracing two murder suspects who shot and killed a 40-year-old man at Kruger Beto’s Auto Body Repair in Shabalala Trust.

“Two unknown suspects, one armed with a firearm, emerged and instructed the deceased to get inside a black VW Polo. But the deceased refused. Then one suspect shot him in the right ear and he fell on the passenger seat. The suspects fled the scene in his other vehicle, a Toyota bakkie short base 2.4 brown in colour with registration number KML 278 MP,” said Mohlala.

Later, the vehicle of the deceased was recovered at Madras outside Calcutta with the keys in the ignition.

“There are no arrests yet at this stage. Cases of murder and hijacking are under investigation,” he said.
