GAUTENG police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a truck carrying bricks collided with another truck and a light motor vehicle.
A woman was killed in the horrific accident which occurred on the R80 on Mabopane highway near Soshanguve in Tshwane at about 9.59 am on Wednesday, 22 March.
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesman deputy chief, Charles Mabaso, alleged that a truck carrying bricks and travelling towards the north direction on the R80 lost control.
“It drove over the road island and collided with a truck and a light motor vehicle travelling in the south direction on the R80.
"A woman who was in the truck that lost control was declared dead by the paramedics. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free her trapped body, while the driver, a man, was also extricated and flown by helicopter to Milpark Hospital in a critical condition," said Mabaso.

He said the male driver of the light motor vehicle was transported to Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in critical condition.
The male driver of the other truck escaped unharmed.
"The emergency services handed over the scene to the South African Police Services for investigation,” Mabaso concluded.
Gauteng Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said they were investigating a case of culpable homicide.
