A MAN was killed during a robbery at his house on Saturday, 21 October 2023.

Angry residents of Barcelona in Etwatwa, Ekurhuleni then went out in search of the killers. But they caught the wrong people and beat them up instead.

It turned out the mum of the two young men is a sangoma.

Now fuming sangoma Zanele Mncube (49) wants the culprits who assaulted her children to buy a goat for her to cleanse them of bad luck.

"In terms of ubungoma, this has to be done."

"If not, a dark cloud will hang over my children and they may suffer the same fate again. My ancestors would definitely want to see a cleansing happening," she said.

The angry sangoma said she's not going to leave this lying down.

"My children almost died but I thank my ancestors who came to their defence. I appeal to the community to stop framing innocent people," she said.

Sangoma Mncube said her two sons, aged 24 and 26, are still traumatised.

"Can you imagine your children dying in a cruel manner over something they didn't do? This has traumatised the whole family," she said.

She said one of the attackers came to apologise for being part of the angry mob.

"I accepted his apology, but you can't walk into someone's house empty handed. They need to buy a goat. They have brought shame into my house, and they need to cleanse it.

"I don't sleep when this thing comes to mind. If they buy a goat to cleanse my yard and my children, maybe I might find peace," she said.

The sangoma said the matter was also reported to the police.

Captain Nelda Sekgobela of Ekurhuleni District police said cases of attempted murder were opened at Etwatwa cop shop.

"Police are investigating the matter," she said.
