TWO filling stations were attacked by thugs over the weekend!
The first incident happened at an Engen on Evaton Adams Road in the Vaal on Friday, 4 November and the second on the morning of Sunday at a Shell just 1km away.
Thugs took cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money after blasting open the safe at the Engen. They attempted and failed to blast the drop-off safe at the Shell before robbing staff of their belongings.
A petrol attendant at the Shell told Daily Sun after failing to get to the cash in the safe, they took cigarettes and cellphones from staff. They also hijacked a customer’s BMW and fled in the vehicle.

Taxi driver Tsietsi Motaung (45) said the incidents had left all filling stations in Evaton closed. He said drivers had a difficult time as they had to travel to Sebokeng to fill their vehicles.
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said the incident at the Engen happened at around 3.30am and four suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
Makgale said employees at the Shell said three armed suspects stormed the shop while three others guarded outside.
They tried to bomb the safe but after they failed to open it, they ordered staff to lie down and took their cellphones. No shots were fired and no one was injured.
“Investigations continue. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police,” she said.
