THUGS have broken into the offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Free State on Monday, 4 December.
Acting National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesman, Mojalefa Senokoatsane said the break-in at the Bloemfontein office occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.
Senokoatsane said the perpetrators managed to gain access to various offices in the building, including the office of the DPP, offices of the deputy director of public prosecutions, as well as other administrative offices.
"Four laptops and voice recorders were stolen during the break-in," he said.
According to Senokoatsane, no sensitive information, dockets or files were compromised during the incident. He emphasised that the NPA has secured areas where critical information is stored and that these areas were not breached during the break-in.

Senokoatsane also made it clear that the NPA remains committed to carrying out its prosecutorial duties despite the setback.
“The National Prosecuting Authority, even though shocked, disturbed and disdained by these cowardly acts, will not be discouraged to continue prosecuting all cases without fear, favour or prejudice. We expressed gratitude to the police for their swift response and initiation of investigative procedures. We would like to encourage members of the community to come forward with any information that may help the ongoing investigation," he said.
The NPA further indicated that security measures at their offices are taken very seriously, with 24-hour security personnel on duty seven days a week.
"We would like to reassure the public that the break-in was an isolated incident and does not indicate a lapse in overall security protocols. We are cooperating fully with the police-led investigation and remain committed to upholding the rule of law," said Senokoatsane.
Police spokeswoman Captain Lorraine Earle is yet to announce how far the investigations are.
