RESIDENTS were woken up by a load noise in the early hours of the morning, 25 October.
Some thought it was an electricity transformer exploding.
But a few minutes later, they discovered that an ATM was bombed in their area.
The ATM was bombed at Meriting Down Complex in Khuma, outside Stilfontein near Klerksdorp in the North West.
When Daily Sun arrived at the scene, there were local police officers, including the explosives unit, and onlookers.

North West police spokeswoman Captain Afje Botma said: “An ATM was bombed in the morning at around 3am and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.”
Botma said no arrests have been made yet.
Daily Sun also learnt that on 15 September, another ATM was bombed in the area.
According to the police, no money was taken from that ATM.
