Tavern owner Mpho Muridili said he was sitting with Sedzani, his younger brother, when he decided to escort a patron home.

“Hardly three minutes later they started shooting. I could have died,” he said.

Metro police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar confirmed that an off-duty traffic cop was killed.

Police spokesman Sergeant Khalipha Mvula said three cases of murder were opened at Lenasia South Police Station and said cops were still looking for the suspects.
