SPRINGBOK police in Northern Cape arrested three suspects for armed robbery, committed in Port Nolloth, on Wednesday, 7 December.
According to Lieutenant-Colonel Sergio Kock, cops followed up on information and intercepted the vehicle with the seven alleged suspects in Tolweg.
Kock said three suspects were arrested while four managed to flee when cops stopped and searched their Toyota minibus.
“Police confiscated one firearm, five live rounds, a gas pistol, 38 unpolished diamonds and a substantial amount of cash – consisting of national and international currencies,” Kock said in a statement.
“Police are looking at linking the suspects to a business robbery that took place on Wednesday at about 6.30pm in Port Nol.”
He added that seven suspects threatened the owner, tied him up and fled with a large amount of cash.
“The three suspects are between the ages of 18 and 41, and residents of Joburg and Port Nolloth. They will be appearing in the Springbok Magistrates Court soon,” he said.
Kock added that they were searching for the four suspects who were still at large, and public members were warned not to approach them as they might be armed and dangerous.
