THE trial of Senzo Meyiwa continues today at the Pretoria High Court.

The case was adjourned to 30 November 2023 last year after the defence lawyer for the two accused, Advocate Thulane Mngomezulu, applied for an early adjournment because he was not feeling well.

The trial was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, 1 December 2023 due to the public holidays. Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng agreed to the adjournment and adjourned the matter to 22 January 2024.

Another case that will be heard in court is the mass shooting of Jukulyn in Tshwane, which has shocked the  people of Mzansi.

Five suspects were arrested after the incident. The case will resume today at the Soshanguve Magistrate Court in Tshwane.

The victims of the fatal incident are Mpho Kgobotlo (30), a police officer who was stationed at OR Tambo Police Station, Phomolo Malakapatlo (28), Thandi Dlamini (34) and 14-year-old Vuyolethu Ziwela from Soshanguve Block P.

The case of student Bafana Malungelo will be heard today at the Alexandra Magistrates Court in Joburg.

The suspect, Bafana, was denied bail by the same court on Friday, 29 December. He is accused of killing and raping teacher Kirsten Kluyts (34).

Mahungela (21) was charged with rape, premeditated murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. The accused claimed that he did not kill the teacher but stumbled upon her body in a hidden area.

He further said he left the park wearing her T-shirt to get his fingerprints off her body. The Delta Park High teacher, who was 14 weeks pregnant, was found murdered on 29 October at George Lea Recreational Park in Parkmore, Sandton.

On the other hand, the Sasolburg Magistrates Court in the Free State adjourned a rape case against a 37-year-old neighbour until today. The suspect is accused of taking a young girl to his house and raping her on Monday, 1 January.
