GOGO Eleanor Mdoka (78) from Waterval in Limpopo is about to say goodbye to the problems of a leaky house.
On Thursday, 28 December, the Elimites Brotherhood Club (EBC) showered the Mdoka family with a generous donation of building materials to the value of R11 500 to repair their roof.
The roof of gogo’s house had been damaged by a fire from a gas stove that had broken out in her shack, destroying all her belongings, including clothes and furniture.
The fire also destroyed the roof of their eight-roomed house, leaving the family of eight in a dire situation on 22 November 2023.
Gogo Eleanor expressed her gratitude in an interview with Daily Sun.
She recounted the struggles her family went through and the nights she strategically placed trays to catch the rainwater seeping through the damaged roof.

"I'm grateful for what they did for me and my family. I didn’t know what to do since I don't even get a Sassa grant," she said.
EBC is a non-profit organisation founded two years ago as a social club by 40 men from the Elim community who grew up together.
The club also donated school uniforms for the two grandchildren of gogo Luvhengo Maluleke (77) from Magangeni Village.
This was after the club renovated the gogo's dilapidated and leaking RDP house which has been in a bad condition since it was built in 2000.
