RESIDENTS wanted to pay respect to those who died in March 1986 during Lucas Mangope's reign but were left in great shock after their newly built heritage site was destroyed by jealous people.

According to the residents, they decided to build the site so that they could commemorate at least 26 people who died because of a stampede by the then police who allegedly shot directly to the people.
