A TAXI owner was shot and killed in broad daylight in the Polokwane CBD in Limpopo on Saturday, 15 April.
The 50-year-old taxi owner, who was affiliated to the Seshego Polokwane Taxi Association, was at the City Centre Taxi Rank when two men allegedly fired multiple shots at him.
Police spokesman, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, said the shooters, whose faces were not covered, then fled the scene on foot.
"The victim was declared dead on the scene. No one else was injured in the incident. A case of murder was opened," said Ledwaba.

He said the case is being investigated by the Provincial Taxi Violence Investigation Unit, which specialises in taxi related crimes.
He added that the Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe, has instructed members of the task team to hunt down those responsible for this horrendous crime and bring them to book.
