SPEEDY Mashilo has applauded the Hawks for arresting a third suspect for illegally selling RDPs.
The Mpumalanga human settlement MEC said the arrest would send a strong message to criminals taking advantage of the poor.
“Such criminality creates expectations that leads to protests,” he said.
Mashilo warned people involved in housing fraud that the government would not tolerate it.
Hawks spokeswoman Captain Dineo Sekgotodi said estate agent Helga Kruger (51) appeared in the Middelburg Commercial Crimes Court last Thursday.
“She was added as a third accused along with Fotoboy Makua (55) and Annica van Staden (46), out on bail. Kruger was charged with R100 000 fraud,” she said.
“It is alleged that in 2014, she advertised houses in Tokologo on behalf of Housing First Property CC. She sold the property for R100 000 and requested the buyer to transfer the money into the Foto Security Services account,” she said.
The case has been postponed to 26 October.
