THE lawyer for the two accused siblings,  Froliana Joseph and David Joseph, lawyer Mike Mokgobu, said the child was the most affected.

The case of breaking into Phala Phala Farm and theft was heard at the Bela Bela Magistrates Court in Limpopo on Friday, 10 November.

The lawyer said that the parents of the suspects were not well as they had expected the accused to be released on Friday, but unfortunately the judgement will be postponed.

"The hardship will continue, the baby will be fed according to a schedule set by the court and that will pose some challenges," he said.

He said they were not happy with the feeding schedule, which is three times a day. He said they were not happy with the schedule, but it was a compromise because they could not release her on bail in the first instance.

"We had hoped she would be released on bail today," he said.

The three accused, Froliana Joseph (30), David Joseph (27) and Imanuwela David (39), were arrested in different provinces.

Imanuwela was arrested in Rustenburg in the North West, while the siblings were arrested in Bela Bela in Limpopo. Imanuwela was arrested on Sunday, 5 November 2023, Froliana on Monday, 6 November 2023.

Limpopo NPA spokeswoman Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi said the state had no objection to bail for Froliana and David because David had surrendered to the police officer and Froliana was also co-operating with the investigating officer.

"Froliana has a 1-year-old baby who is in a certain condition, the baby needs his mother," she said.

She said the state did not oppose bail, we agreed on a fixed bail for them, R5000 for Froliana and R10000 for David. She said the money stolen from Phala Phala Farm was R580 000.

"The complainant in this matter is the manager of the farm who knows about money and will be our witness, not President Cyril Ramaphosa," Malabi-Dzhangi said.

Magistrate Predeshni Poonan postponed the case to Friday, 17 November, to decide on the bail application for both accused Froliana and David Joseph and Imanuwela David's legal representative.
