THE case against Samuel Matibidi, the teacher accused of severely assaulting a grade 12 learner, has been postponed.
Matibidi (29), a teacher at St Peters Combined Christian School in Mohlaletsi Village, Limpopo, appeared in the Sekhukhune Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 15 November.
He is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
This comes after the teacher handed himself to the cops on Wednesday morning, 15 November.
It’s alleged that Matibidi assaulted the grade 12 female pupil from his school on Sunday, 12 November.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was in her room studying at the school's hostel as part of ongoing exam preparations when the teacher came and assaulted her with a belt and a shoe.

She allegedly suffered injuries and bruises and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The following day, the school initiated a disciplinary hearing against the teacher, and he was instructed to step down from his position of employment with immediate effect.
Since then, the school has arranged counselling not only for the directly affected pupil but for all other pupils.
Limpopo police spokesman Hlulani Mashaba said the cops are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
