DRIVING recklessly is not allowed, not even from a cop!
But yesterday an off-duty Joburg Metro officer managed to make a mockery of himself.

Not only did he injure his three passengers, but he also hurt himself. The officer allegedly lost control of a bakkie, which overturned along Randfontein Road in Glenridge, Soweto.
A video of the incident has been circulating on social media.
It shows the officer speeding before losing control and hitting an electrical pole.
The pole blew up, which caused motorists to pause and bystanders to run away in shock.
Joburg Metro Police spokesman Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the officer worked at the department’s by-law management section. “The three men transported by the officer were all injured and taken to various hospitals. Meanwhile, a docket was opened against the officer for reckless driving as well as for suspected drunken driving,” he said.
Minnaar said the cop would also be charged with misconduct.

“The department views this officer’s misbehaviour in a very serious light because he has caused injury to civilians and damaged state property. Such bad behaviour will not be tolerated from any officer,” said Minnaar.
An onlooker said many cops thought they were above the law.
She said: “When we need assistance from the Metro cops there aren’t vans, yet drunkards are playing with them. This needs to be looked into and an example must be set.”
