EDUCATION is one of the rights enshrined in Mzansi's Constitution.
The South African Defense Force (SANDF) and the South African Police Service (SAPS) came together on Saturday, 13 April, to hand over books to the Vahluri Reading Club in Mandela Village outside Polokwane, Limpopo.
The handover formed part of Operation Prosper which targets illegal mining in the Limpopo Battalion community outreach.
These projects aim to educate communities about its work, changing perceptions while demonstrating that the SANDF is not only about guns.
They gifted the non-profit reading club 60 fiction and non-fiction books at the Paradise Daycare Centre. The books are written in English and Afrikaans.

The club is dedicated to promoting the love of reading and has invested in literacy and education.
It's also part of the national Nal’ibali network, a campaign aimed at stimulating children’s potential through storytelling and reading.
Vahluri means ‘winners’ in Xitsonga and they're already winning in their quest to get more resources.
The handover was led by Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mthandazo Mkhize and Lieutenant Arnold Mokgalapa, SANDF Social Worker.
The club works closely with three primary schools: Mashashane, Matshelane, and Napo Primary School.
The gesture was welcomed with open arms by the club.
According to Bianca Ledwaba, one of the reading club’s founders, the books will help them.
“The books will go a long way in assisting the Vahluri Reading Club build a book collection that can easily be accessed by the children and to encourage them to love reading from an early age," said Ledwaba.
The club expressed its gratitude for the donation.
“More storybooks are still welcome, especially those written in African languages such as Northern Sotho, Northern Ndebele and Xitsonga,” the club said.
