NEARLY four months after Israel's violent attack on Gaza began, Mzansi journalists have stood up in solidarity with media workers being killed on the frontlines.
The Committee to Protect Journalists' (CPJ) investigations showed that at least 83 journalists and media workers have been killed in the ongoing Israel-Gaza war.
Journalists gathered on the steps of St George's Cathedral in Cape Town, Mary Fitzgerald Square in Joburg and at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and at Rhodes University to call for a ceasefire, pronouncing that "journalism is not a crime".

The interim court order ruled that Israel must take all measures necessary to prevent genocidal acts, prevent and punish those who incite genocide, and allow for the provision of humanitarian aid desperately needed in Gaza.
Acts of genocide include killing, causing serious bodily or mental harm and deliberately inflicting conditions calculated to bring about the destruction of a group.
