MZANSI, are you ready to celebrate National Tourism Month in September?

The tourism industry reflected on the importance of tourism for the growth and development of Mzansi during the launch held at Thaba Legae Guest House in Rustenburg, North West on Tuesday, 1 August.

Mzansi celebrates Tourism Month in September which coinciding with World Tourism Day on Wednesday, 27 September. The aim of Tourism Month is to raise awareness of domestic tourism and promote a culture of travel among South Africans.

Speaking at the launch, Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille highlighted the importance of domestic tourism to South Africa’s tourism sector. She said it was critical to building a truly resilient tourism sector.

“It is also an opportunity to showcase the country’s diverse tourism offerings and foster a sense of national pride and appreciation for the beauty and richness of South Africa.

“The global theme ‘Tourism and Green Investments’ emphasizes the significant role of tourism in fostering inclusive economic growth and development. By generating employment opportunities, stimulating local economies, and promoting social inclusion, tourism becomes a powerful catalyst for positive change,” she said.

She also encouraged locals to take a Sho’t Left, explore South Africa, and support South African tourism businesses.

North West Tourism MEC Virginia Tlhapi, said the province is more than ready to host World Tourism Month festivities in September.

“Get ready for a month full of wanderlust, adventure, and cultural discoveries right at our doorstep," Tlhapi said.
